Clocks that read "hour of the day" instead of the modern "hour of the clock" or "o'clock." This is accomplished by rotating the clock face so the 7 is on top, at noon, when people take lunchbreak. On 12 hour clocks, the calendar day starts at 6pm, when the hour hand points down. The first revolution counts off the 4, 3 hour, watches of the night, then at 6am (sunrise nominally) the 12 hours of daytime begin, with a sabbath or ciesta at high noon. Great for understanding Bible stories that reference hour of day, like Jesus' crucifixion, which began at 8am, not 9am as some Bible translator's mistakenly translate. Since the hands are always in the expected place you can also read these clocks like any regular analog clock provided you know the modern analog clock face.
